Sample Safety Quick Tip
Safety Tip: Know
when it's best to hold onto stuff
and when it's best to let go.
Reason:
When in danger, sometimes letting go
of physical objects is the safest
thing to do. Other times, holding
onto objects is the safest thing to
do.
Example 1:
You are riding your bike and a thief
wants your bike. Give up the bike;
this is just a "thief."
Example 2: You are riding
your bike and someone tries to
abduct you. Hold onto your bike to
make yourself bigger and more
trouble than you are worth to the
attacker. This is a "person who
wants to hurt someone."
Call to Action: Know the
different types of attackers to
respond correctly
1.
Thief - just wants material
possessions. Give 'em up!
2. Person who wants to
hurt someone - hold onto trees,
poles, furniture, people, bikes,
cars, etc. to be difficult.
3. Psychotic (person
having psychotic episode) - do
WHATEVER you have to do to remove
yourself from the situation
immediately! Throwing things for
distraction may help.
Because: The first thing
people think of doing in a dangerous
situation is usually wrong. If you
think it, the attacker is probably
prepared for it. You must do
something unexpected to take control
long enough to escape.
Kelly's Opinion: 95% of
crimes can be easily prevented. Your
15 minutes of fame should not be
spent on the nightly news as a crime
victim! |
